Over 2000+ women received free mammogram and Ultrasound through our fully funded outreach, enabling early cancer detection in unreached communities.
Breast and cervical cancer remain among the leading causes of preventable cancer deaths among Nigerian women, largely due to limited access to screening. Our outreach in Imo State delivered free mammography and HPV screening to over 2000+ women.
Early detection dramatically improves treatment outcomes. Women who screened positive were connected with specialist referral pathways for timely follow-up.
This outreach was made possible through partnerships with diagnostic centres and local women's associations who helped mobilize participants.
Beyond screening, the programme provided comprehensive health education sessions on breast and cervical cancer prevention, risk factors, early warning signs, and the importance of routine screening. Healthcare professionals addressed common misconceptions and encouraged women to seek timely medical attention whenever abnormalities are noticed.
Participants also received one-on-one counselling from qualified healthcare professionals who explained screening results, answered health-related questions, and provided practical guidance on maintaining healthy lifestyles. This personalized approach helped reduce anxiety and empowered women to make informed healthcare decisions
Community mobilization was a key component of the outreach. Working closely with local leaders, women's groups, and community volunteers enabled the Foundation to reach women who might otherwise have limited access to preventive healthcare services. These collaborations strengthened trust and increased participation across the communities served.
Through initiatives like this, Everight Healthcare Foundation continues to expand access to quality preventive healthcare, reduce health inequalities, and improve cancer awareness among underserved populations. By bringing screening, education, and referral services closer to communities, the Foundation is helping more women take proactive steps toward protecting their health.
